PNB ‘s ASM Unit Trust Selling like “HOT CAKES” !

Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) Units Sale Update as at Noon 22 April 2009

According to the news that quoted PNB president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman said as at 12.17pm 22 April 2009.

All the 999 million units (30%) Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) allotted to the Chinese were sold out. Indians bought 53.5 million units or 10.71 per cent of the 499.5 million units (15%) set aside for them. It means, there is still 90 % or 446 million units left for grabbed. The Bumiputeras bought 7.65 million units of the 1.665 billion units (50%).

For those of you who wish to subscribe the Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) but is not able to do so due to the allocation units being snapped out. You might need to wait for the additional 2 billion units of Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020) due to open for sale on 27 April 2009 (Monday).

For Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020). There is a 51% quota (1.02 billion units) for Bumiputra and 49% quota (998 million units) for non Bumiputra. However it is not clear whether there is a quota on the number of units to be allotted to the Chinese and Indians respectively, for the non Bumiputra portion.

Based on the statistic above, for the case of non Bumiputra portion of ASW 2020,

1) If there is no quota for non Bumiputra portion of the 998 million units of Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW2020). The ASW 2020 could be snapped up easily within two days just like the 999 million units (30%) of Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM).

2) If a quota on allocation like that of the case of the Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM), 598.8 million units will be allotted for the Chinese, 299.4 million units reserved for Indians and 99.8 million units for the others. It will not come as a surprise that the Chinese quota allotted, the assumed  598.8 million units could be fully subscribed in one day.

Anyway, this is merely an assumption of a quota system on the non Bumiputra portion of  the ASW 2020, need to get clarification on the ASW 2020 non Bumiputra portion. Do update if you have further information on this. Thanks !
